Petroleum Coke Trading Services
By the end of 2021 we were approached by our business partners to assist them with some paperwork in their efforts to source Petroleum coke* for clients in Asia.
A seemingly easy administrative task appeared to be very complex because of the various links and interest of all the parties involved. The supply chain is a great challenge worth accepting: different/multiple geographical regions, (business) cultures, trust, language, terms and conditions, logistics, financial procedures, etc.
We were exposed to a total new world. We took some time to understand this business and we as we went on, we saw the opportunities and how we could position ourselves the best. Finally, we entered the market in the year 2022. As this is a very high value business financials and trading risks have to be considered and dealt with in a secure and trusted manner. As of today, we proudly can say that we have been able to sign contracts and established partnerships with buyers in China. We have developed reliable relations to source this product. We expect to close our first transaction any time soon.
We consider this business as the bridge to the Oil & Gas business developments in Suriname and the region. Currently we are evaluating and considering the different opportunities carefully so that we can position and present ourselves.
*Petroleum coke, or petcoke, is a product produced from all types of oil (light/heavy crudes) during the oil refining process. Petroleum coke is a valuable and essential commercial product that is used directly in a wide range of applications including aluminum manufacturing, fuels, and numerous other products including steel, glass, paint, and fertilizers. Petroleum coke is also used as a fuel in power generation, cement kilns and other industries.
